Hi there Axel ! This is truly a very ‘long time no hear’ . I am back in Scotland and have been here for more than six years now . Bev is teaching and living in Vereeniging . Sadly my Mum passed away in 1997 and my brother in 1998 . I’m not sure if you already know this or not . Where are you living now and how is life treating you ? My email address is thejoubertskirkcaldy@btinternet.com and I would love to hear from you .
Dear Mr. Braumann, what a wonderful, wonderful surprize to find a foto of you. The school days were the best and I know, that I was not one of your favorite students, however, I certainly have never forgotten you. A man I respected so very much (and was sometimes even a little afraid). You may remember my friends: Christa Lampalzer, Bryan Wolmarans, Collen Buchner or Antoinette Menti. Well to some I still have contact, although I have been in Germany (Hamburg) since 1990.
My biggest wish is to hear the tune of “to the highest” just one more time. As I cant play the piano I am relying on someone out there to record and send it to me. For my very own personal use and very happy memories of Nigel High. To the highest!
With very sincere regards

It is great to see your picture HOW ARE you? I am now living in Noway with my husband Sam and have 4 sons. Are you still teaching? Sam and I are both teachers (Music and he teaches Chemistry and Psychology) Our sons are aged 17 – 25. It would be wonderful to hear from you.
Mr Braumann
What a lovely surprise. I hope you’ll join Facebook and we can connect. I googled Nigel High and came across this…
thanks to Blane for starting the thread though I was only a skivvy in 1980 you were legend at the hostel!

Mr Braumann! I often think of you and wonder how you are keeping. You’re certainly looking well. I must agree with Wendy a few posts back, it would be great if you joined Facebook, but somehow I don’t see it being your thing. I’m doing ok, living in London now. Been here about eight years now, hate the winters, but they do make summertime all the more enjoyable, I mean I get totally excited about 10 degrees, imagine?!?! Anyway, take care.
I am not sure if you remember me, but I was at Nigel when you joined the Staff. I was in the Hostel, and I really have some fond memories of you. I hope you are well, and would really like to hear from you. I live in Dallas TX, and am married to a South African girl, and have a son (23) and twin girls (17)
Finally! ! ! After so many years (28 to be exact), I come across the man that was such a great influence on my life.
Mr.Braumann… remember me? Your “Major Petkov”, “Banquo.”
I keep fond memories of our school plays, they where a big challenge for a young Portuguese boy trying to discover his identity and so be able to move forward in life, knowing his potencial and limitations. Would love to hear from you.
I wrote a long e-mail to you but I don’t think you got it. I hope you are well and that life in Portugal is good to you. If possible try to reconnect. It would be good to hear from you – after 29 years.
Hi Axel
If you ever get to read this post, please contact me. The last time we saw each other was in 1988 I think. I am still in PE.
I would really like to establish contact with you again.
Hi Axel
It is really wonderfull to see youre pic on the net . I can now put a face to a story that i tell often . A story off a man that i never showed the respect that should off at a young age . But with age came to understand and respect what he was trying to teach me all these years ago . He was more than a teacher to me as he also stayed across the road from me . Axel hope you are well . If there are any more people out there that might know me give a shout
Wow, this takes me back… you were an inspiration and I have a lot to thank you for . . . not a bad cook either . . . Best wishes and thanx from Durban,
There seems to be a common theme… you are/have been on so many people’s minds. How strange but true. Also you were such a huge influence to many students.
I hope you still have the picture of JR and me in a scene from ‘Valentines’, when we performed so many years ago. I played Troilus. You were not my teacher, yet you taught me so much. I remember opening up to you once, in tears. It was emotional.
I have often thought of you and told stories about my English teacher. ( none bad at all)
I believe you produced a film about Andrew ( My brother), if this is true, would it be possible for you to point me in the right direction as to where I could get a copy please.
I matriculated in 1979.
This was really moving. You appear to be a real life “Mr Chips”, and I despair that your ilk are fast disappearing. My children do not talk about their teachers, yet my contempories do. Education has changed, not for the better, and I believe the acme was reached in the 1900′s (nadir now?)
Apologies for intruding, but I was searching for my old friend Kerstin when I chanced upon this.
PS I was Head Boy at Alberton High in 1976.

Hi Axel
Like so many before me the effect that you had on my life is immense, giving a lost boy purpose and self belief.
Every thing I have become as a man I owe a substantial portion to you.
Thank you
