Braaivleis, Rugby, Sunny Skies and Chevrolet
January 6th 1976 saw the first SABC broadcast television services in the Republic of South Africa (The World At War, The Villagers, Sport 76, The Dingleys, Blitspatrolie, Haas Das se Nuuskas, Oscar in Asblikfontein, Willem, Doktor Doktor, Wiellie Wallie); it also marked the beginning of the demise of radio.
Springbok Radio took to the airwaves on May 1st 1950, broadcasting in both English and Afrikaans until December 31st 1985. Popular programs fueling the theatre of the imagination included:
