Raising a Totem in Vancouver

all-my-relations-totem-pole-raising-vancouver-theological-seminary.jpg The totem “All My Relations” is raised into place in front of the Vancouver Theological Seminary in July 2006. First Nations Peoples have not always enjoyed a warm reception at this Anglican Seminary; this ceremony marked an important milestone in “seeking and serving Christ” in all people.

blane-and-father-emmanuel-help-raise-the-totem.jpg Father Emmanuel Williamson, BSG, and Blane van Pletzen-Rands, a/BSG, share in raising “All My Relations” Totem. There was a time when clergy were responsible for the removal and destruction of sacred Totems in nineteenth century Canada.
